Exporting a Workflow

Exporting a workflow gives you the process as a document: the sections, the steps and their detail, outside the app.

Export one workflow

  1. Go to the Workflows page.
  2. Open the three-dot menu on the workflow's row.
  3. Under Other tasks, choose Export PDF or Export CSV.

The export is prepared in the background and you are taken to the Exports page, where the file appears when it is ready.

PDF or CSV

  • PDF for people. It reads as a document, which is what an auditor, a trainer or a new starter wants.
  • CSV for machines and spreadsheets. Use it to review a long workflow in a grid, or to bulk-edit wording before rebuilding it.

If the export option is not there

A workflow has to be free of validation errors before it can be exported. If the option is missing or the export will not run, open the workflow and clear the errors it reports first. The usual culprit is a conditional rule pointing at a question that has since been deleted.

Exporting more than one

To export every workflow in a department rather than one at a time, see How to Export All Workflows. To move a configured workflow between accounts with its settings intact, export it as JSON instead. See Workflow JSON Schema Reference.
