Exporting Workflows and Runs
Manifestly exports in two directions: the workflow itself, which is the process written down, and the runs, which are the record of work done. They answer different questions and are produced in different places.
Exporting a workflow
Use this when somebody needs the procedure rather than the history: an auditor asking for your documented process, a colleague reviewing it away from the app, a printed copy for a wall.
From the three-dot menu on a workflow, choose Export PDF or Export CSV. See Exporting a Workflow, and How to Export All Workflows to do a whole department at once.
Exporting runs
Use this when you need evidence of what happened: which steps were done, by whom, when, and what data was collected.
- A single run as a PDF, the usual format for a compliance record or a file note.
- A list of runs as a spreadsheet, from the Runs page, for analysis. Filter the list first so you export the runs you actually want. See Reporting and filtering on the runs page.
Data collected in steps can also be exported on its own from a workflow's report. See Workflow Reports.
Where exports arrive
Exports are prepared in the background rather than downloaded on the spot, because a large one takes time. You are told when it is ready, and the file waits for you on the Exports page under Reports.
So if a file does not appear immediately, it has not failed. Check the Exports page rather than running it again.
