Understanding the Master Department in Manifestly
What Is the Master Department?
When your Manifestly account is created, a Master Department is automatically added.
This department is not intended for running workflows. Instead, it serves as a container for account administrators who have full access to system-wide settings.
Who Belongs in the Master Department?
Only users who manage your organization’s Manifestly account should be members of the Master Department. This typically includes:
- Account owners or primary admins
- IT or security administrators who manage authentication (SSO)
Regular team members and workflow participants should belong to other departments you create for day-to-day operations.
What Can Master Department Admins Do?
Admins in the Master Department have global permissions across your account. This includes the ability to:
- Manage the subscription and billing details
- Configure SSO (Single Sign-On) and other authentication settings
- Create API keys for use in integrations
- Create, rename, or delete departments
