Send SMS from the completion of a step
Overview
Manifestly now supports sending SMS messages when a step is completed. This works similarly to how you can configure a step to send an email on completion. You can also personalize the SMS content for each run using tokens.
Configure SMS on Step Completion
- Open the step where you want the SMS to be sent after completion.
- Enable the option to send an SMS when the step completes.
- Choose the recipient:
- Send to the phone number collected in the run, or
- Enter a specific phone number to receive the SMS.
- Customize the SMS content. Use tokens to tailor the message for each run (for example, you can insert data from the applicant or the run).
- Save your changes and run a test to verify the SMS is sent as expected.
Recipient and Country Code Details
- The SMS can be sent to any phone number that uses a plus-one (+1) country code (for example, United States, Canada, and several Caribbean countries).
- Manifestly plans to extend support to additional country codes in the future.
Tokens and Message Personalization
- Tokens allow you to customize the SMS for every run, pulling in data from the applicant or the run itself.
- Include tokens in the message content to dynamically insert fields like names, IDs, or other run-specific data.
- Preview or test the message to confirm how the tokens render for a real run.
Examples and Tips
- Example use: Send the applicant a confirmation and next-step instructions after a form step completes.
- Tip: If you’re testing, use a range of test phone numbers with the appropriate +1 country code to validate delivery.
