Set step data when setting up scheduled runs

Set step data for scheduled runs

Set step data for scheduled runs

Overview

When you create recurring schedules, you can set step data within each run. This lets you pre-fill data for steps in every run and tailor run names to include dynamic information (for example, the month and a location).

Example: Monthly safety inspections by location

Scenario

Suppose you run a monthly safety inspection for four locations. The schedule runs on the first of each month at 8:00 AM. You want each run to indicate which facility is being inspected and to name the run with the location and the month.

Steps

  1. Open the recurring schedule settings for your workflow.
  2. In Optional settings, set Set step data for each run.
  3. Choose the step that indicates which facility is being inspected and set its value for this run (for example, select Atlanta).
  4. For the name of each run, use a combination of the location and a month variable (for example, Atlanta {month}).
  5. Repeat the process for the other locations to create multiple runs within the same schedule (Atlanta, Cleveland, Denver, Sacramento).
  6. When the schedule runs monthly, you will generate four runs per month—one for each location—with the corresponding facility value pre-filled.

What you will see after setup

  • Each run in the schedule has the step data set to the location for that run (e.g., Atlanta, Cleveland, Denver, Sacramento).
  • The run name reflects the location and the month, helping you quickly identify each run.
  • There are four runs produced per month, one for each location.
