Tagging Steps in Workflows and Runs

Overview

Tags help you organize and focus your work. You can tag steps in workflows (to apply across all runs) or tag individual run steps (for one-time filtering).

Tag Steps in a Workflow

Purpose: Add tags like SafetyClient-Facing, or Prep to workflow steps so that all runs inherit them.

How to Set Up

  1. Open the workflow editor.
  2. Select a step using the checkbox to the left of the step title
  3. In the slide out panel, create or select the tag.
  4. To create a new tag, type the tag and then click on it or press enter].

Filtering in a Run

  1. Open a run created from that workflow.
  2. Use the tag filter to select one or more tags.
  3. Only steps with those tags will be displayed.

Notes

  • Tags are inherited by runs at creation time.
  • Editing workflow tags affects future runs only unless you choose to update in progress runs.
  • Use consistent tag names for predictable filtering.

Tag Run Steps

Purpose: Add tags like Urgent, or High Priority to steps within a single run for targeted focus.

How to Tag a Run Step

  1. Open a run.
  2. In the menu option (three dots) on the right hand side of a step, choose the Tags option.
  3. Add one or more tags.
    • Tags save instantly and are visible to all participants.

Filtering in a Run

  1. Use the tag filter at the top of the run.
  2. Select one or more tags to show only matching steps.
  3. Clear the filter to show all steps again.

Notes

  • Run-step tags apply only to that run (they don’t update the workflow).
  • You can combine workflow and run tags—filters respect both.
  • Use consistent tag names to make filtering reliable.
